FRANCESCO MICHELE GERVINO It is with great sadness that the family of Francesco (Frank) Gervino announces his passing January 10, 2004 at Seven Oaks Hospital at age 76. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Eugenia Gervino of Lappano, Cosenza, Italy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eleonora, his loving son, Luigi (Lou) and wife, Julie and his cherished grandchildren, Ellen, Angela and Sara. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Litrenta and sons, Pietro and Luigi of Lappano, Cosenza, Italy and sisters and brothers-in-law, Delia and Frank Greco, Sestilia DeLuca, Mario and Genoveffa Putaro, Luigi and Maggie Putaro, Maria and Tony Catuscelli and Rita and Reno Gemin and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was born in Lappano, Cosenza, Italy on May 8, 1927. He served proudly in the Municipal Police Force in Piacenza, near Rome and entertained his family with fond recollections of his time spent there. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and married his dear wife, Eleonora soon after in 1955. His proudest moment was the following year when they were blessed with the birth of their son, Luigi (Lou). Frank was a master shoemaker who began his career at The Bay, went on to work at Eatons and finally built up his own business on Corydon and Wilton. He was a true craftsman who specialized in rebuilding orthopaedic footwear and he was very popular with his many customers who enjoyed dropping into the store for a story or a chat. Nono was most happy when he was together with his son and grandchildren, and his generosity and unselfishness will always be remembered. He would grant every wish and do anything to make his son and grandchildren happy. He was most proud of his son, Lou and followed his career with great interest. Frank will be remembered as an outgoing man who always had a smile and a story to entertain his family. He was always willing to use his skills to lend a hand at any time to family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all. Prayers will be said on Monday, January 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Holy Rosary Church, with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. The family would like to thank Dr. Wilson and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and Home Care for their patience and understanding.
